ENHANCING CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS

This group is designed to help men reduce their shame and increase their confidence in relationships with those that are most important to them.

Starts: Tuesday, August 31, 2021

INFORMATION AND DETAILS

As men we often struggle in our relationships.  It might look like constant conflict with a partner, irritability and impatience as a parent, or only having surface level friendships.  Low self-esteem, increased feelings of isolation, and disconnection generally result from these relationship issues.

Whatever the relationship issue you may be facing, this group is designed to help you grow by learning what resources you already possess and what barriers are getting in your way of deeper and more meaningful connections with others.

HOW MUCH IS THE GROUP?

The group is $360 for 12 weeks.  This breaks down to $30 per group session.

The full amount is due prior to the group's start date.

GROUP SCHEDULE

This group will meet on Tuesdays for 12 weeks from 8 AM to 9:30 AM.

WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF THE GROUP?

In this group we will work together to focus on better understanding what is going on inside of us when we are interacting with others.  Using a modality called Internal Family Systems, we will focus on the many different parts of ourselves and help develop language to communicate our feelings, needs and wants in relationships.  We will also target aspects of our thoughts and behaviors that keep us from connecting with our families, friends and partners.

WHAT WILL I LEARN FROM THIS GROUP?

  1. We will all set a specific intention for a relationship in our lives as a way to focus our time in the group.

  2. We will learn about what parts of ourselves affect this relationship and how they might block or support our intentions.

  3. We will learn to speak FOR our parts rather than FROM our parts (i.e. “A part of me feels angry” vs. “I am angry”).

  4. To help grasp this new way of thinking of ourselves, we will create a “parts map” that offers further insight into how we relate to our inner selves and to others around us.

  5. We will complete before and after questionnaires to determine breakthroughs and areas that still need exploring.

  6. We will each be able to articulate to the group observable changes we  have noticed related to our progress.

  7. Each participant will be given at least one group session to spend the majority of the processing time on exploring/processing their parts associated with their intention.
